There are no strict rules for after a Reiki session — only a few gentle habits that help you carry the calm with you and let anything that stirred settle.
Just after
Give yourself a moment before you stand, and come back to the day slowly. Many people feel relaxed and a little dreamy straight afterwards, so it is worth not rushing straight into something demanding if you can help it. A glass of water and a slow few minutes are all that is needed.
In the hours after
Drinking water and taking things gently are the two most common suggestions. Some people feel bright and refreshed; others feel tired, or notice emotions closer to the surface for a while. All of this is a normal part of unwinding, and it usually passes on its own within a day or so.
Over the next days
Be kind to yourself over the following days. Rest when you can, notice how you feel without over-analysing it, and keep up any small self-practice your practitioner suggested. If you are having a series of sessions, it can help to jot down a few words about each one.
When to check in
Reiki’s after-effects are gentle. But it never replaces medical care, so if you have a health concern — or anything that worries you — speak to your doctor as you normally would. Anything ongoing belongs with them, with Reiki sitting quietly alongside.
Drink some water, take it easy for a while, and let yourself feel however you feel. That is really all aftercare asks.
